Title 1

In the groundbreaking and inventive era of the 1960s, the Lamborghini Miura P400 was born. This car didn’t just alter automotive design; it founded the supercar genre itself. The upcoming Pebble Beach Auction on August 18th and 19th will feature a unique 1972 Lamborghini Miura SV, with an anticipated selling price between $3.5 million and $4.25 million.

Domenico Schiavo of Padua, its first owner, kept it for 38 years and drove around 80,000km. Cremonini Carrozzeria of Modena restored it immaculately between 2011 and 2013, maintaining it with meticulous attention to detail, right down to the correct hose clamps and period-correct Pirelli CN12 Cinturato tires.

Engineers Gian Paolo Dallara and Paolo Stanzani thought after hours about a sports car that differed from high-performance GT cars of the time. Instead of following the designs of Ferrari’s 275 GTB and Lamborghini’s 350 GT, they evolved the Miura, using inspiration from mid-engine racing cars to create the first true supercar.

They unveiled it as a bare chassis 1965, displaying a mid-mounted, transverse V-12 engine and other innovative features. Carrozzeria Bertone designed the Miura’s exterior, making it as exotic as its technology.

Lamborghini introduced the SV, the ultimate version, at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1971, showing its dedication to enhancing the Miura. The SV’s flared rear-fender arches, wide Campagnolo wheels, and unadorned headlights gave it an aggressively beautiful look.

They included mechanical improvements such as a reinforced chassis, redesigned rear suspension, ventilated disc brakes, and engine tweaks that increased output to 385 bhp.

Lamborghini made only 150 SVs between 1971 and 1973, marking it the most scarce Miura variant.

A One-Of-A-Kind SV: Chassis 5066

Chassis 5066 stands out among this elite group. Finished on May 12, 1972, this car, the only one painted in Bleu Tahiti with gold accents over white leather, embodies uniqueness. This model, configured with dry-sump lubrication and rare air-conditioning, is the same car Gooding & Company will auction at their Pebble Beach auctions.

This Miura SV is more than a collector’s piece. It serves as a part of automotive history, a symbol of an innovative era, and a tribute to one man’s memory of his late brother. It’s an enduring reminder of a time of invention and a landmark in automotive development.
