Lamborghini Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce – the STORY

It has been a long wait, but it sure was worth it, the brand new, limited edition Lamborghini Murciélago LP670-4 Superveloce became a reality during the 2009 edition of the famous Geneva Auto Salon, a bright yellow example was unveiled on March 3rd during the official press conference held on the stand at 9:15 ...

Arriving at the stand early that day it became obvious just what kind of bull was 'sleeping' under it's black satin cover, a very stylish 'SV' script could be seen on the side of this cover, and what was even better, it looks similar to the SV scripting found at the rear of one of the most beautiful and sought after Lamborghinis of the early days ... the beautiful Miura SV, the heritage was clearly present, but the car wouldn't be shown until 9:15 on March 3, when none other than Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Automobili Lamborghini SpA would proudly unveil the Superveloce to the gathered press in Geneva.

Part of the press conference was a stunning movie about the new LP670-4 Superveloce model, a high action film featuring an orange metallic car Raging around on the tarmac, very impressive and very suitable for a high performance evolution of the LP640 model.

When the cover finally came of in Geneva a bright yellow metallic Bull was shown featuring several, totally new parts compared to the 'normal' LP640 model, most of them being finished in a matte carbon fiber that contrasted beautifully with the bright body of the Superveloce, which we all know means Speed in Italian ...

Taking a second look around we can clearly see the new, very aggressive front spoiler finished in clear carbon, the lower air intakes on both sides are also finished in this lightweight material and the totally re-designed rear difuser with new, again centrally mounted exhaust naturally joined the carbon fiber sections.

Going up you just can't miss that massive rear wing, mounted on some of the most beautiful struts ever seen, it again continues the carbon theme that actually ends on the outside with the brand new engine cover, now featuring hexagon glass parts that give a clear look at the magnificent V12 engine now pumping out no less than 670 Hp.

A small detail that might get lost in the impressive carbon fiber appendages are the exterior rear view mirrors, on the LP670-4 Superveloce these are modified compared to the original LP640 to improve aerodynamics even further.

Let's open those trademark upwards opening doors and take a peak inside this limited edition Raging Bull (only 350 will be made by the way), you are greeted by a stunning upholstery in Alcantara, this high end material is covering just about every part in the interior that isn't finished in carbon fiber.

Note that the central console between the seats has been mildly modified, and talking about seats, the Geneva show car had those really awesome looking sport seats mounted, they look so much in place in the Superveloce, even more when you order it with the optional four-point racing harness which really makes the LP670-4 look like a race car for the open road ... a completely street legal one by the way.

The Lamborghini Murciélago LP670-4 Superveloce has been eagerly awaited by many, both enthusiasts and owners, and I am sure none of them are disappointed by the car that was finally shown in Geneva, however with a production run of only 350 units you might want to get your order in as soon as possible, production of this very handsome exotic will quickly run out.
