We all were expecting something really special for the 2013 edition of the IAA in Frankfurt, which usually is the spot where Automobili Lamborghini SpA brings a surprise to their stand like the Reventón back in 2007, followed by the Reventón Roadster in 2009 and the Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale only two years ago.
So for this year the rumors were stacking up, would we be seeing a preview of the Gallardo successor at the IAA, perhaps a concept only that would show some indication on how the new V10 Bull could look ... or the Veneno Roadster that has been confirmed for limited production ... perhaps even the Egoista that was unveiled at the 50th Anniversary Gala Dinner.
But at the VAG Group Night event that is usually held the evening before the first press day at the IAA show it became obvious there was no spectacular new concept or limited edition hyper exotic Roadster unveiled ... instead the Gallardo LP570-4 Squadra Corse was shown, which is in fact an evolution of the Super Trofeo Stradale shown in Frankfurt two years ago.
Unfortunately the Squadra Corse was spotted during testing weeks ago, and various photos were published all over the internet ... Automobili Lamborghini SpA even published the official press release and adjacent photos weeks before the IAA would open its doors ... so calling it a brand new, final evolution of the V10 Gallardo as a World Premiere at the 2013 IAA in Frankfurt might be stretching it a little.
Still the Gallardo LP570-4 Squadra Corse looks really amazing, and it is a fitting tribute to the success of the Blancpain Super Trofeo racing series ... and as a swansong to the entire Gallardo line up it culminates the V10 range nicely ... the new model can now take over the reign from the most successful Lamborghini model ever ...
